By making Sajith President and Fonseka's Defense Minister, national security is ensured.- Ranil

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the national security of Sri Lanka can be strengthened only by appointing Sajith Premadasa as president and appointing Sarath Fonseka as defense minister.

He was speaking at a presidential election rally in Kiribathgoda.

Mr. Wickremesinghe said Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's opposition to the introduction of new laws to prevent terrorism should be made clear to the country.

The Prime Minister added that while the Rajapaksas boast about national security, they regret the opposition's efforts to ensure security.
